Job summary

Public Storage seeks a Senior Counsel / Counsel, Legislative & Regulatory Affairs to lead regulatory strategy for a growing national consumer-facing business. You will monitor developments, shape advocacy, and advise senior leaders on policy impacts across jurisdictions.

The role requires strong legal judgment, excellent communication, and the ability to operate across law, business, and policy issues to build a scalable regulatory function for a national operation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant legal, legislative, regulatory, government affairs, or public policy experience.
• Experience with campaign finance, lobbying, gift, ethics, and related political law requirements.
• Experience interpreting statutes, regulations, proposed legislation, and regulatory guidance.
• Experience working with legislatures, regulators, or government affairs organizations.
• Strong judgment and ability to advise senior business leaders.
• Independent, fast-paced, multi-jurisdictional work style.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and advise on federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory developments affecting Public Storage and the self-storage industry.
• Develop and execute advocacy strategies on legislation, rulemaking, and regulatory proposals.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external counsel to assess impact and craft compliance approaches.
• Translate complex legal developments into actionable guidance for executives.
• Support regulatory responses and engagement with trade associations and government affairs partners.
• Assist with acquisitions, new jurisdictions, and business expansion in compliance planning.
