Job summary

Staff Financial Group is seeking an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to establish and lead a centralized function supporting 13 manufacturing locations. You will develop fully loaded standard costs, ensure accurate product costing, and strengthen inventory valuation and financial reporting.

You will collaborate with Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, and plant leadership to improve inventory accuracy and internal controls, while guiding external audits and SOX compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant manufacturing cost accounting responsibilities.
• At least 5 years of supervisory cost accounting experience required.
• Experience developing and maintaining standard costing systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting annual physical inventories across multiple facilities.
• SAP or similar ERP experience.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and inventory/cost accounting expertise.
• Experience supporting audits and SOX compliance.
• Experience month- and year-end close processes.
• Strong analytical, communication, and business-partnering skills.
• Ability to collaborate with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, plant management, and exec leadership.
• Advanced Excel and financial reporting tool proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead a centralized Cost Accounting function across 13 locations.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes including inventory accounting and journal entries.
• Develop and maintain fully loaded standard costs for manufactured products.
• Own standard costing across material, labor, overhead, and freight allocations.
• Analyze variances and provide actionable insights on usage, efficiency, and inventory performance.
• Coordinate annual physical inventories and cycle counts across facilities.
• Improve inventory accuracy, BOM integrity, and product costing with FP&A and Operations.
• Maintain internal controls over inventory and cost accounting per SOX.
• Serve as liaison for internal and external audits and remediation.
• Review BOM structures and cost master records to ensure accuracy.
• Drive ongoing costing methodology improvements and ERP utilization.
