Job summary

Grant Thornton (US) is seeking a Corporate Tax Director in Chicago to lead business income tax planning, compliance, and ASC 740 accounting for multiple clients within a supportive, collaborative firm culture.

You will supervise cross‑functional engagement teams, drive growth, mentor staff, and collaborate with the Washington National Tax Office to deliver exceptional tax services. This hybrid role requires in‑person presence at least three days weekly.

Qualifications

• CPA or JD/active law license required.
• Minimum five to seven years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience.
• Experience in public accounting strongly preferred.
• Experience in corporate income tax and ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise multiple client services teams on engagements; plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects.
• Support growth and profitability by leveraging external networks and achieving sales targets.
• Participate in business development activities to enhance the firm’s brand.
• Review complex tax returns and ASC 740 engagements for accuracy and savings opportunities.
• Maintain good client relationships and collaborate with senior management.
