Job summary

Downtown Denver Partnership seeks a hands-on Controller to lead accounting operations, drive accurate financial reporting, and strengthen internal controls for its nonprofit organization and affiliated entities.

You will partner with the CFO on budgeting, cash management, and strategic planning while overseeing a two-person accounting team and system platforms like Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Salesforce.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field required.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including nonprofit/government fund accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and year-end close with journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
• Ensure accuracy of financial reporting and compliance with policies and standards.
• Prepare financial reports on AR, collections, accrued revenue, and dashboards for CFO and Board.
• Oversee grants accounting and compliance for government and other funding sources.
• Manage cash flow, forecasting, and inter-departmental financial plans.
• Coordinate annual audits with external auditors and tax preparers.
• Collaborate on budgeting, forecasting, and reserve planning across entities.
• Develop and improve accounting policies and internal controls.
