Job summary

Mountain Sky Conference of The United Methodist Church is seeking a Controller to oversee accounting functions including accounts payable, receivable, and payroll, and to assist in preparing financial statements, regulatory reports, and audit documentation. This primarily remote role is based in the Denver, CO area with in-office days as scheduled.

Ideal candidates have five years in a nonprofit or church Controller role, CPA preferred, and strong GAAP, Excel, and Financial Edge experience.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least five years in a Controller role in nonprofit or church accounting.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Treasurer to evaluate, modify and/or establish accounting processes and practices for financial accountability.
• Oversee payroll processing and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Coordinate annual audit and facilitate monthly close within designated timelines.
• Prepare financial statements and reports for stakeholders and website posting.
