Job summary

Whitecap Search is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee the financial operations, ensure accurate reporting, and drive efficient processes that support growth.

The role leads a finance team, manages multi-entity close and reporting, guides acquisition integrations, and partners with the CFO on strategic initiatives. A strong background in GAAP, technical accounting, and process improvement are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on financial reporting and internal controls.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting matters (revenue recognition, business combinations).
• Experience leading acquisitions integrations and managing financial processes across multiple entities.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a team with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel; experience with AI and automation tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, delivering accurate and timely financial statements to the CFO and leadership.
• Manage the general ledger and chart of accounts, including journal entries, reconciliations, consolidated schedules across multiple entities.
• Lead finance workstreams for acquisition integrations, including COA alignment, opening balance sheets, reporting, controls, and close-process integration.
• Establish, document, and maintain accounting policies and internal control environment, and scale with the company.
• Research, conclude on, and document technical accounting matters including revenue recognition, business combinations, and leases.
• Improve and automate accounting processes, internal controls, reporting tools, and systems as the company scales.
• Prepare schedules, analyses, and supporting information for Board, lender, and investor reporting, including debt covenant reporting.
• Manage the external audit, tax filings, and other compliance requirements; primary day-to-day contact for outside accountants and advisors.
• Identify accounting and reporting risks and implement AI, automation, and workflow solutions.
• Evaluate existing finance processes and recommend technology-enabled improvements, including AI-assisted reconciliations and data analysis.
