Job summary

CFS in Niles, MI is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting function and partner with leadership to drive financial performance. This role manages month‑end close, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow while guiding the accounting team across AP/AR/payroll and daily operations.

The ideal candidate has a CPA or CMA and 7+ years of progressive accounting leadership, with strong GAAP knowledge and ERP experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or CMA preferred.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
Experience leading month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems.
Manufacturing, distribution, or multi-entity accounting experience is a plus.
Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

Lead the month-end close process, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting.
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
Manage the accounting team, including AP, AR, payroll, and daily accounting operations.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, maintain strong internal controls, and coordinate annual audits.
Partner with leadership to improve processes and support strategic business decisions.
