Job summary

Alliance Resource Group is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the company's accounting and financial operations in Los Alamitos, CA. Reporting to the Founder/CEO, this onsite role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, ideal for someone accustomed to inventory-intensive environments and entrepreneurial cultures.

The Controller will own the integrity of financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and partner with executive leadership to fuel growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership as a Controller or Assistant Controller.
• Experience in manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, retail, automotive, consumer products, or e-commerce environments preferred.
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting, cost accounting, and operational finance.
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
• ERP systems experience; ability to improve systems and processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities with ownership/executive interactions.
• Hands-on, detail-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations: GL, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, month-end close.
• Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure U.S. GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.
• Serve as primary liaison with tax advisors and banking partners.
• Oversee inventory accounting, costing, purchasing, and reconciliations.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance with meaningful analysis.
• Develop and improve accounting processes, workflows, and controls.
• Collaborate with operations and leadership to improve profitability.
• Drive ERP optimization and automation projects.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning.
• Mentor and lead the accounting team.
