Job summary

Alliance Resource Group in Long Beach, CA, seeks an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. Reporting to the CEO, you will own the accounting function, strengthen controls, and provide strategic financial insight to guide growth.

You will manage day-to-day accounting, drive process improvements, and build a high-performing team in a privately held, entrepreneurial environment. This is a full-time onsite role with substantial growth potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller leadership.
• Experience in inventory-intensive businesses (manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, retail, or consumer products).
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
• ERP experience and advanced Excel skills.
• Hands-on, entrepreneurial leadership style.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, and month-end close.
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage inventory accounting, costing, reconciliations, and related financial controls.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and operational performance.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting processes.
• Partner with operations and executive leadership to identify efficiencies and improve profitability.
• Lead ERP optimization, process improvements, and automation initiatives.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.

Controller – Privately Held, Growing Company - reports directly to the CEO

Location: Long Beach | Full-Time | Onsite - Up to 180k plus bonus

Alliance Resource Group has been retained by a well-established, privately held Southern California company to identify an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations.

Reporting directly to executive leadership, the Controller will serve as the company's senior accounting leader, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, strengthening financial controls, improving processes, and providing meaningful financial insight to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrated success improving accounting processes, systems, and financial reporting.
