Job summary

Creative Financial Staffing, LLC seeks a seasoned Controller in Milford, CT to lead all accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and partner with leadership to drive decision making. This is a hands-on role overseeing the general ledger, close processes, budgeting, and internal controls.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in progressive accounting, GAAP expertise, ERP experience, and strong communication across finance and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a Controller or senior accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience overseeing the full accounting cycle.
• Strong Excel and accounting systems/ERP experience.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and accounting processes.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in construction, manufacturing, or another project-based/operational environment preferred.
• CPA or other relevant certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations
• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
• Analyze financial results and provide insights to company leadership
• Monitor job, project, or production-related financial performance
• Partner with operations and management to improve financial processes and reporting
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, banks, and other financial partners
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and company policies
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and efficiencies
• Lead and support the accounting team as needed
• Assist leadership with financial planning and special projects
