Job summary

Service Specialists Ltd seeks an experienced Controller to lead its accounting function in Oxford, MS. You will oversee financial reporting, internal controls, and a team of accounting professionals while partnering with management to improve profitability and operations.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong communication, and a track record of building and developing teams, optimizing processes, and ensuring accuracy across GAAP compliance and financial planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Controller or senior accounting leadership preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory guidelines.
• Lead, manage, and develop the accounting team with clear direction and support.
• Ensure all accounts, claims, rebates, credits, and reconciliations are current and accurate.
• Review financial statements and operating controls to identify trends and opportunities to improve profitability.
• Partner with executives to provide meaningful financial analysis to support business decisions.
• Oversee general ledger activity and account reconciliations; investigate discrepancies.
• Support annual budgets, forecasts, and other financial planning initiatives.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure procedures are followed across the organization.
• Oversee cash management and provide recommendations on cash flow and resource use.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations, including tax filings and payroll.
• Manage and optimize accounting and ERP systems to improve reporting, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen department performance.
• Participate in management meetings as a trusted financial resource.
• Travel regionally as needed.
