Horner & Shifrin, a 100% employee-owned engineering firm in St. Louis, seeks a Controller to lead accounting operations, strengthen internal controls, and turn Vantagepoint data into actionable insights for project managers.

This hands-on role grows with the firm and offers broad leadership responsibilities. Reporting to the President, you will manage GAAP reporting, budgeting, audits, ESOP coordination, and staff mentoring as the organization expands across multiple states.

Qualifications

• Requires 15+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience; controller-level considered with 10+ years.
• Experience supervising accounting staff preferred.
• Controller or senior accounting experience in architecture/engineering or project-based professional services.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems, ESOP experience preferred.
• CPA preferred; strong GAAP knowledge and revenue recognition for long-term contracts.

Responsabilités

• Ensure GAAP-compliant accounting operations and financial reporting.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and WIP reporting.
• Develop financial analyses, dashboards, and KPIs for executives.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and capital expenditure planning.
• Coordinate annual audits and ESOP administration; maintain corporate records.
