Trueline in Lenexa, KS is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and finance function through a major transition. You will learn the business from a long-tenured incumbent, then assume full ownership, guiding a team and preparing for an ERP implementation.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on processes, driving modernization while preserving operational stability. It offers a rare path toward CFO-level responsibility in a privately held, 60+ year company.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Controller-level experience or equivalent responsibility for a full accounting function.
• Hands-on experience across AP, AR, payroll, GL, close, audit, and reporting.
• Experience managing and developing an accounting team.
• Proven experience navigating at least one meaningful systems transition or ERP implementation.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial controls.
• Ability to operate as both a strategic leader and hands-on Controller.
• Excellent communication and credibility with ownership and long-tenured staff.
• Willingness to work onsite in Lenexa, KS.

Responsibilities

• Learn the business from the retiring Controller during transition.
• Own the full accounting function as transition progresses.
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, commissions, invoicing, GL activity.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
• Coordinate external audits and banking relationships.
• Maintain tax compliance and 401(k) reporting.
• Build and develop an accounting team.
• Provide accurate financial reporting and strategic insights.
• Partner with Owner/CEO and auditors; drive ERP modernization.
