Job summary

CapCenter is seeking a hands-on Controller to own the books for a multi-line financial services business. You will design controls, build the team, and partner with the CFO on strategic financial decisions. This foundational role supports a 29-year-old company driving growth.

You will lead the close, GL, and financial reporting, while strengthening internal controls and partnering with regulators, lenders, and business leaders to ensure accuracy and operational alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Active CPA required.
• 10+ years of progressive experience, including ownership of a full close cycle and external audit.
• Mortgage banking or regulated financial services experience preferred.
• Deep US GAAP technical accounting skills; ability to research, write, and defend positions.
• Demonstrated experience leading an external audit as the named owner from the company side.
• Hands-on close experience; able to perform the work.
• Clear communicator with auditors, tax advisors, and partners.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close with calendar, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Produce timely US GAAP financial statements and statutory/regulatory reporting.
• Own external audit relationship and remediation; defend accounting positions.
