Job summary

KITCO Fiber Optics, Inc. is seeking a Controller in Norfolk, VA to lead the business unit's accounting operations.

You will oversee budgeting, cost accounting, general accounting, internal controls, and ad hoc projects for government contracts, FAR/DFARS compliance, and GAAP adherence. The ideal candidate has strong leadership, extensive aerospace/defense experience, and a solid background in government contracting regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
• 5+ years in senior finance role, preferably aerospace/defense.
• Strong understanding of FAR/DFARS and CAS.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate business performance against financial goals and projections.
• Ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS and government contracts.
• Oversee revenue recognition and cost allocation for government programs.
• Lead internal controls, audits, and financial reporting accuracy.
• Manage accounting department and 2–3 direct reports; drive budgeting and forecasting.
• Support capital expenditure approvals and inventory control.
• Maintain contracts, insurance policies, and related documents.
