Job summary

KEMBA Financial Credit Union is seeking a Consumer Loan Underwriter to represent the financial interests of Members and the Credit Union by making prudent lending decisions. Qualifications

• College graduate or equivalent work experience with required loan training and certification.
• 3 years lending and financial services industry experience.
• Knowledge of state and federal lending statutes and required loan documentation.
• Knowledge of consumer and residential lending practices.
• Thorough knowledge of loan origination procedures and terminology.
• Strong analytical and financial skills.
• Ability to work quickly, with extreme accuracy and attention to detail.
• Solid research skills and the ability to understand complex underwriting directives.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and process credit requests ensuring accuracy and compliance with guidelines.
• Review loan applications, credit reports, and collateral; determine value and terms.
• Approve loans within authority and document supporting factors for exceptions.
• Explain rationale behind credit decisions with clear documentation.
• Maintain timely communication with Members and management.
• Monitor pipelines to ensure timely processing and decision making.
• Coordinate with staff and provide training when needed.
