Job summary

HistoryMaker is seeking a Purchasing Manager to oversee day-to-day purchasing activities and to establish strategic procurement processes. You will manage contracts, negotiate with major vendors, and ensure accurate bid information flows to trades, sales, and construction teams.

In this role you will build relationships with trade partners, participate in cost-saving initiatives, and support subdivision setups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Construction Management preferred.
• 3+ years purchasing experience in the construction industry preferred.
• Self-directed and proactive, with minimal oversight.
• Analytical skills to interpret data and make decisions.
• Highly organized with strong process adherence.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with Newstar or equivalent purchasing ERP systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
• Strong relationship-building and persuasive negotiation skills.
• Willingness to attend industry events to maintain vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day purchasing activities and establish strategic purchasing processes.
• Maintain relationships with trade partners and participate in contract negotiations.
• Ensure accurate information flow during bids to trades, sales, and construction.
• Resolve issues related to options, budgets, specifications, rebates, and change orders.
• Coordinate with leadership and purchasing team on cost-saving strategies and supply agreements.
• Support the setup of new subdivisions with Trade Partner selections.
• Monitor Trade Partner performance and capacity to meet project goals.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships and attend industry events.
