Job summary

Well Done Building & Design is seeking a Director of Construction in Costa Mesa, CA. This role leads all field operations, focusing on strategy, execution, profitability, and client satisfaction.

You will align cross-functional teams, manage PMs, and uphold safety and quality standards across multiple high-end projects. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in residential construction, a GC license is preferred, and strong skills in scheduling, budgeting, and BuilderTrend.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in residential construction; GC license preferred.
• Proven leadership skills in managing teams, subcontractors, and multiple high-end projects.
• Strong business sense to evaluate profitability and drive decisions.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for client-facing situations.
• Deep scheduling, budgeting, and quality assurance knowledge.
• High proficiency with construction management software (BuilderTrend preferred).
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices on job sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution of all field operations with focus on profitability and delivery.
• Manage Project Managers, set clear expectations and ensure accountability.
• Foster a strong team culture and ensure performance across all sites.
• Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules and align field ops with goals.
• Act as a high-level client-facing leader, align with sales/design, communicate updates clearly.
• Oversee subcontractor selection, contracts, and execution with high standards.
• Monitor job budgets, bids, profitability, and pricing strategies.
• Lead monthly safety meetings and enforce quality, safety, and compliance.
