Job summary

AVAILABILITY Professional Staffing is seeking a hands-on Controller for a stable union construction company. You will lead GL, payroll, AP/AR, and reporting while overseeing job costing, WIP, and revenue recognition. You’ll collaborate with ownership and operations and drive a key transition from American Contractor to Sage.

The role emphasizes strategic input, mentorship, and proactive financial leadership in a growing organization with strong safety and quality culture.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
8+ years of accounting leadership experience within the construction industry.
Significant experience in a union construction environment.
Strong expertise in job costing, WIP schedules, construction billing, and revenue recognition.
Advanced Excel skills.
A hands-on, collaborative leadership style with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

Lead accounting and financial operations, including GL, AP, AR, payroll, cash management, and financial reporting.
Oversee construction job costing, WIP reporting, billing, and revenue recognition.
Manage union payroll and related compliance requirements.
Partner with project managers and operations to analyze project performance and profitability.
Strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting.
Help lead the company’s planned transition from American Contractor to Sage.
Serve as a trusted financial partner to ownership and company leadership.
