Job summary

Wainwright Talent Partners in Boston seeks a Senior Estimator - Construction to evaluate bid specs and drawings, ensure all job details are captured, and coordinate with vendors to obtain quotes.

You will develop estimates for diverse projects, assemble bids from plans and budgets, manage RFI communications, and work with Project Management to pursue bids and budgets. Proficiency in Excel and Sage, plus strong leadership and client service, are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or related field, or 4+ years' related experience.
• 5-8 years' experience in construction estimating or similar field.
• Proficient with architectural plans; read and interpret to produce sound estimates.
• Strong understanding of the construction process.
• Demonstrated leadership and excellent customer service to internal/external partners.
• Proven problem-solving ability.
• Knowledge of budgeting and financial aspects of projects.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and industry applications, including AI tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work the hours required to support project needs.

Responsibilities

• Submit 100% of bids and budgets by established deadlines and log data in Estimating software (Excel & Sage).
• Develop estimates and bids for projects using scopes, plans, specs, and budgets.
• Communicate bid packages and RFI's to subcontractors; analyze trades and costs.
• Create bid lists, secure subs, and incorporate value engineering ideas.
• Foster relationships with subcontractors and vendors to maximize bid options.
• Review drawings with Project Management and Chief Estimator to identify concerns.
• Follow up on bids and budgets to help close business.
• Participate in hand-off and close-out meetings; provide bid documentation.
• Inform subs of project schedule; document long lead items; ensure schedule adherence.
• Engage in buyout and negotiations with subs.
• Perform in-house take-offs; visit sites to gather data and estimate costs.
• Develop conceptual cost models and understand construction methods, productivity, materials.
• Update internal database with current pricing.
• Coordinate and attend site walk-throughs.
