Job summary

Beaufort County is seeking a Public Information Officer-level professional to strategize and deliver county communications to the public and media. This role promotes services, programs, news, and events while managing crisis communications under the PIO direction.

The position collaborates with departments, supports crisis response, and ensures timely messaging across digital and traditional media. A Bachelor’s degree and 4–6 years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or education and training equivalent to four years of college education in business, liberal arts, or related field.
• 4–6 years of related communications experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Develops branding content, including editorials, advertisements, press releases, scripts, and internal staff communications.
• Designs and produces promotional materials such as annual reports, newsletters, engagement materials, and brochures.
• Ensures County branding aligns with marketing standards and supports brand expansion as needed.
• Assists with event planning, outreach, and representation at public functions, including photography and videography.
