Job summary

RVU Communications Manager role across Colorado, Utah, and Montana requires a detail-oriented storyteller to lead editorial content, internal communications, and media relations for all three campuses. You will develop narratives that reflect RVU’s brand and values, collaborating with faculty, students, staff, and alumni to uncover impactful stories.

The position reports to the Director of Communications & PR and demands strong writing, relationship-building, and project management skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in communications, PR, journalism, or related fields; higher education or healthcare preferred.
• Exceptional writing and editing across multiple formats (press releases, editorials, blogs, memos).
• Experience with regional media and managing stakeholder relationships.
• Proven project management skills with calendars and content pipelines.
• Familiarity with communications platforms (Meltwater, Mailchimp, CMS) and social media best practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop long-form editorial content highlighting RVU’s mission, faculty, students, alumni, and partnerships.
• Write blog posts, alumni features, research highlights, and student success stories aligned to brand goals.
• Coordinate with content, marketing, and integration teams to publish content across platforms.
• Own RVU communications calendar; align campus content with campaigns and events.
• Sustain proactive and reactive media relations; write press releases and advisories.
• Monitor coverage and report monthly to leadership; manage crisis messaging as needed.
