Job summary

The University of Maryland’s Center for Global Sustainability (CGS) seeks a Manager of Communications to lead planning, coordination, and execution of communications that amplify CGS research and strengthen the Center’s brand. You will oversee day-to-day operations, translate priorities into campaigns, and collaborate with university partners to extend reach across policy, media, and audiences.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• 3 years of professional communications or marketing experience.
• 1 year of experience leading or supervising professional staff.
• Additional work experience as defined above may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

• Lead CGS communications planning, coordination, and execution.
• Lead research communications for reports, publications, and policy analyses.
• Edit and develop news stories, newsletters, web content, and announcements.
• Manage CGS digital communications: website, social media, newsletters, emails.
• Coordinate media relations: outreach, press materials, interview requests, media tracking.
• Oversee CGS brand implementation and creative services: reports, infographics, visuals.
• Provide communications support for CGS events in partnership with Operations.
• Support stakeholders with messaging for leadership and research teams.
• Supervise staff and external vendors as needed.
• Monitor performance and use metrics to improve communications.
