The Role
As a Strategic Communications Manager at GiveWell, you will play a key role in shaping the organization's external communications strategy. Your work will involve creating compelling content that drives awareness, deepens understanding of GiveWell’s research, and increases support for the high-impact programs they recommend. The role requires an experienced communicator who is skilled at tailoring messages for diverse audiences, driving media engagement, and leading high-level communications initiatives across multiple platforms. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and execute strategies that amplify GiveWell’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communication strategies to elevate GiveWell’s work, including public-facing materials like blogs, reports, and presentations.
  • Create and maintain messaging frameworks to ensure consistent, high-quality communication.
  • Engage with journalists, podcast hosts, and other media professionals to increase GiveWell’s visibility.
  • Manage media outreach and lead responses to inbound media requests.
  • Collaborate across teams (Research, Fundraising, Product) to align messaging with strategic goals.
  • Oversee content creation for digital channels, including social media, web content, and newsletters.
  • Analyze campaign performance and adjust strategies for improved outcomes.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of experience in strategic communications, ideally in nonprofit, philanthropic, or policy sectors.
  • Proven ability to create compelling narratives and engage with diverse audiences through multiple channels.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a track record of producing clear, persuasive content.
  • Experience leading media relations efforts, including building relationships with journalists and securing media coverage.
  • Familiarity with digital content development and social media strategy.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated interest in global health and effective altruism principles is highly desirable.

11. Salary Range:
$143,600 (outside NYC/SF) – $158,400 (NYC/SF) per year + 5% bonus + benefits
