SEIU Local 1021 in Northern California is seeking a Communications Lead to oversee all aspects of campaign communication in support of the Local’s core purposes. Duties vary by campaign and may include media, publications, and digital content creation.

Under the Communications Director, you will design strategy, coordinate press events, update the website, and lead a team across multiple campaigns while promoting labor movement values.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience in communications and press relations for unions or non-profits.
• Experience with public sector communications preferred.
• Proficiency in graphic design principles is beneficial.
• Experience using email marketing and advocacy tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and present strategic campaign plans across traditional and new media.
• Write and edit publications, talking head pieces, broadcasts, newsletters and briefs.
• Develop training materials for staff on communication methods.
• Update and maintain campaign templates, photo galleries and information accessible to staff.
• Coordinate press conferences and media events, including press releases and advisories.
• Lead communications staff across multiple campaigns, regions and industries.
