Job summary

Volunteers of America Texas is seeking a Strategic Communications Director to lead integrated communications and brand strategy from our Euless, TX office. This executive role reports to senior leadership and shapes messaging across traditional and digital channels.

The successful candidate will drive crisis communications, media relations, and storytelling while guiding metrics, campaigns, and cross-department collaboration to advance VOA-Texas mission and programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
• 7–10 years of progressively responsible communications experience.
• Demonstrated success in strategic communications, media relations, and brand management.
• Valid Texas Driver's License and insurability.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute an integrated communications strategy aligned with organizational goals.
• Advise executive leadership on messaging, reputation management, and public positioning.
• Lead crisis communications, media relations, and thought leadership opportunities.
• Manage communications planning, performance metrics, and reporting.
• Ensure consistent brand identity across platforms and campaigns.
• Oversee digital strategy, content creation, and analytics to measure impact.

Day-to-Day

Communications Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and execute an integrated communications strategy aligned with organizational goals.
• Advise executive leadership on messaging, reputation management, and public positioning.
• Lead crisis communications, media relations, and thought leadership opportunities.
• Manage communications planning, performance metrics, and reporting.

Brand Management

• Ensure consistent brand identity across all platforms and communications.
• Lead strategic campaigns across paid, earned, owned, and shared channels.
• Provide brand guidance and support across departments and initiatives.

Marketing & Storytelling

• Oversee development of marketing materials, campaigns, and storytelling content.
• Partner with internal teams to amplify mission, programs, and partnerships.
• Use data and analytics to guide strategy and measure impact.

Digital Communications

• Lead digital strategy, including website, SEO, and social media.
• Oversee production of digital and print materials.
• Monitor engagement metrics to optimize performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 7–10 years of progressively responsible communications experience.
• Demonstrated success in strategic communications, media relations, and brand management.
• Valid Texas Drivers’ License, clear MVR and ability to be insured
