Qualifications

• Six to eight years of experience in political or corporate communications, public affairs, or journalism.
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong understanding of the national media landscape and reporters.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver strategic counsel and develop communications plans for client issues.
• Manage news stories from pitch to coverage and prep clients for interviews.
• Maintain strong reporter relationships and act as a spokesperson.
• Generate ideas to secure earned media and cut through the noise.
• Produce client deliverables: press releases, fact sheets, talking points, op-eds, memos.
• Oversee media monitoring and analysis.
• Assist in hiring, training and mentoring junior staff.
