Job summary

Moorings Park Communities seeks a Director of Communications to lead its enterprise communications function. You will advise executives, shape strategic messages, and strengthen our public reputation across multiple business lines.

This role requires establishing governance, managing crises and media relations, and building a clear, timely system for resident and family communications, stakeholder updates, and organizational storytelling across campuses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, PR, Marketing, English or related field.
• Minimum of seven years in communications with leadership responsibility.
• Proven experience in executive, internal, resident, and public-facing communications.
• Experience leading teams and managing agencies, freelancers, budgets, and schedules.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills across formats.
• Strong judgment, discretion, diplomacy, and deadline management.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute an enterprise communications strategy aligned with priorities.
• Advise the Executive Leadership Team and department leaders.
• Lead message development, writing, editing, tone, audience, and distribution.
• Establish governance, style standards, templates, and editorial calendars.
• Develop executive communications including leadership emails, speeches, talking points, presentations, Board materials.
• Lead resident and family communications for operational updates and enterprise initiatives.
• Oversee communications across digital, print, presentation, photography, video, web, and social channels.
• Lead and develop communications team members and manage external writers, designers, vendors.
• Manage communications budgets, vendor scopes, schedules, deliverables, and quality.
• Monitor communication effectiveness and continuous-improvement opportunities.
• Protect confidential information and exercise discretion.
