Job summary

Beaufort County seeks a strategic Public Information Officer to design, write, publish, and communicate county information to the public and media. This role promotes county services, programs, news, and events while managing crisis communications when needed, under the direction of the PIO.

You will collaborate across departments to create messaging, branding, and engaging outreach materials for digital and offline channels, including press materials, newsletters, and civic events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent to four years of college in any field except engineering/sciences.
• 4–6 years of related communications experience.
• Valid state drivers license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Develops branding and marketing content, including editorials, press releases, scripts, and internal staff communications.
• Designs promotional materials such as annual reports, newsletters, engagement materials, and brochures.
• Manages county website and digital platforms to engage citizens and non-citizens.
• Supports crisis communications, including media relations and reputation management.
• Coordinates with County departments to create and distribute internal and external communications.
