Job summary

Vermeer Corporation is seeking a strategic thinker to plan and execute evolving commodity strategies. You will develop supplier relationships, manage contractual obligations, and negotiate for long-term cost benefits, communicating across Vermeer and its supplier base to support internal customers.

The role requires a wholistic mindset, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to drive total cost improvements while collaborating with engineering and procurement teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum four years of experience in supply chain/operations, including two years in procurement.
• Knowledge of warehouse inventory management, engineering blueprints, contract law, purchase orders, blanket orders, marketing and sales data.
• Ability to work with others in difficult situations, manage conflict and own commodity projects.
• Ability to prioritize projects and multi-task to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
• Ability to work with suppliers professionally and negotiate total cost benefits.
• Proficiency with ERP and data analytics software including Power BI, Power Apps, and SQL Developer.
• Certified Professional in Supply Management or Certified Supply Chain Professional preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross functional teams to develop commodity strategies to achieve total cost improvements, lead times reductions, and supply rationalization.
• Coordinate with purchasing and materials managers to align goals and mitigate risks associated with the commodity.
• Develop market understanding and set strategies to guide those forces and create annual cost-down strategies with key suppliers.
• Lead internal management groups to support long-term strategic needs for a commodity.
• Administer supplier audits, site reviews, and manage supply breakdowns due to unmet expectations.
• Utilize data analysis to support data-driven decisions across the organization.
• Partner with engineering, Lifecycle, and regional procurement for make-to-print and off-the-shelf items to form regional strategy.
• Develop and execute source selection tools focused on price, supplier location, and supplier capability.
