Job summary

AMETEK Inc. in the United States, Connecticut, is seeking a Commodity Buyer to lead strategic sourcing for assigned commodities within our manufacturing supply chain.

You will partner with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Planning, and Finance to translate commodity strategies into sourcing actions that improve cost, quality, and continuity of supply. The role emphasizes RFQ execution, supplier relationships, and disciplined purchasing, with a focus on delivering cost-reduction and value

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 5+ years in manufacturing sourcing.
• Experience owning RFQs, bid analysis, and supplier negotiations.
• Strong knowledge of MRP-driven purchasing and supplier performance.
• Experience with domestic and international suppliers; supplier qualification is preferred.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Excel; CPSM/CPIM/CSCP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Sourcing & Supply Base Management: develop spend analyses, supplier research, and risk assessment.
• Own assigned sourcing projects: RFQs, bid analysis, supplier recommendations, and implementation.
• Achieve cost-reduction and PPV through competitive sourcing and value‑engineering support.
• Purchasing Execution & Supply Continuity: review MRP, issue POs, releases, and reschedules.
• Maintain accurate supplier data: pricing, lead times, MOQs, and order multiples.
• Expedite shortages, monitor capacity and risks, and coordinate recovery actions.
• Supplier relationships & scorecards: manage actions, monitor performance, and drive improvements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: partner with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Planning.
• Support SIOP, planning analyses, and make-versus-buy decisions with visibility to constraints.
