Job summary

Bank of New England in Salem, NH seeks a Commercial Credit & Portfolio Management Officer to join the Full-Time Credit Department. The role blends financial analysis, underwriting, and portfolio oversight to strengthen lending relationships and maintain credit quality.

You will evaluate borrower performance, monitor the loan portfolio, prepare analyses, and collaborate with lenders and credit administration while ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in commercial banking, credit analysis, commercial underwriting, portfolio management, or commercial lending.
• Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis, cash flow evaluation, and commercial credit underwriting.
• Experience managing or supporting commercial loan portfolios.
• Ability to assess borrower risk and develop well-supported credit recommendations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across departments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Credit Analysis & Underwriting: Review and analyze commercial borrowers’ financial statements, cash flow, repayment capacity, and overall creditworthiness.
• Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management: Manage or support an assigned portfolio of commercial loans and credit relationships; complete annual reviews and renewals.
• Collaboration & Compliance: Work with Commercial Lenders and Credit Administration; ensure lending activities align with policies and regulatory requirements.
