Job summary

City of Compton seeks a seasoned municipal administrator to assist in planning, directing, and reviewing daily city operations under the City Manager. The role coordinates with departments and external agencies, ensuring policy implementation and service delivery excellence.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and six years of administrative experience in municipal government, including three in management; a Master’s degree is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Six years of increasingly responsible administrative experience in municipal government, including three years in management.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, public administration, urban planning, or related field; Master’s degree desirable.
• Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of municipal government operations, budgeting, and redevelopment law.
• Familiarity with planning, land use, and grants programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing administrative policies, goals and objectives for the City.
• Assist City Manager in directing operations, services, and work standards.
• Coordinate with department heads and outside agencies on programs.
• Monitor city-wide service delivery and identify improvement opportunities.
• Provide support regarding Economic and Development services.
• Support budget development, forecasting, and cost control.
• Represent the City in negotiations with employee groups.
• Prepare materials for meetings and participate in committees.
• Stay informed on trends in municipal government; may act as City Manager.
