The State of West Virginia through the Department of Tourism is seeking a Chief Financial Officer in Kanawha County to lead finance and fiscal administration. The role reports to the Cabinet Secretary and partners with department heads to ensure sound budget stewardship and compliance.

The position emphasizes financial governance, strategic planning, and accountability across programs, procurement, grants, and payroll, with regular travel and full-time hours in Charleston, WV.

Qualifications

• Financial management experience required.
• Knowledge of state procurement and state and federal grant knowledge.
• Strong analytical skills and broad knowledge of accounting principles.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and excellent time management.

Responsabilités

• Monitor agency programs to ensure fiscal responsibilities meet statutory guidelines.
• Oversee department financial activities including budget tracking, invoicing, transfers, deposits and year-end reports.
• Support payroll and HR functions as they relate to budgets.
• Develop and implement accounting policies to improve financial processes.
• Manage the department's budget with real-time tracking of appropriations and fund balances.
• Analyze and report financial performance year over year and prepare reports.
• Oversee internal controls and analyze complex financial data for requests and planning.
• Supervise financial services team (AP, AR, procurement).
