Job summary

New York Common Pantry seeks a Chief Finance and Administration Officer to join the executive team, reporting to the CEO and serving alongside peers on the leadership team. The CFAO will oversee finance, operations, facilities, HR, technology, and legal/compliance to enable program leadership to focus on service delivery and external relations.

The role offers strategic, hands-on leadership to modernize systems, scale infrastructure, and strengthen NYCP's financial and operational capacity

Qualifications

  • 10–15+ years of progressively responsible finance and/or operations leadership experience in nonprofit or human-services accounting.
  • Experience with government contracts and multi-site operations.
  • Demonstrated success leading financial systems transitions and technology-driven improvements.
  • Deep understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and reporting standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the Board and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial operations including accounting, payroll, procurement and the general ledger.
  • Lead annual budget development, multi-year forecasting, and monthly financial reporting.
  • Monitor financial performance and advise CEO, Board, and program leadership on trends and opportunities.
  • Develop program- and site-specific financial reporting for program leadership.
  • Manage the annual independent audit and Form 990 process and maintain internal controls.
  • Oversee HR, facilities, and operations across NYCP sites, including procurement and risk management.
  • Champion staff engagement and professional development; build and mentor Finance, HR, and Operations teams.
