Job summary

The Goodwin Group is conducting an executive search for a Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy, treasury, accounting, FP&A, compliance, and operations for a mission-driven community development organization. The CFO partners with the CEO, Board, funders, lenders, and community stakeholders to ensure fiscal discipline and sustainable impact.

Qualifications

15+ years of progressive financial leadership, including at least 5+ years in a senior executive finance role.
Experience driving financial strategy, capital planning, budgeting, FP&A, and risk management.
Proven ability to build scalable financial infrastructure, governance, and high-performing teams.
Experience in nonprofit, community development, affordable housing, or impact investing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as strategic advisor to CEO, executive team, and Board of Directors.
Translate organizational objectives into a clear financial roadmap and operational plan.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and capital stewardship.
Oversee treasury, accounting, financial reporting, audits, internal controls, and liquidity management.
Ensure donor compliance and transparent reporting to funders and stakeholders.
