Job summary

The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska seeks a proven Chief Financial Officer to lead the finance and accounting functions. You will oversee consolidated fiscal management, coordinate with the CEO and Tribal Council, and ensure regulatory compliance and accurate financial reporting.

This executive role requires strong leadership, strategic budgeting, audit oversight, and risk management to maximize resources and support tribal priorities. On-site position based in the Winnebago finance office, NE.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of Fund Accounting, For-profit Accounting and GAAP.
• Knowledge of grant management best practices is required.
• Knowledge of CFRs, OMB circulars, and tribal laws is required.
• Knowledge of ERP systems or similar software is required.
• Experience with tribal organizations and consolidation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate operational activities for the finance and accounting department.
• Devise and carry out strategies, policies, and procedures to meet financial goals.
• Identify and prevent fraud and hold wrongdoers accountable.
• Establish KPIs and provide financial tools for management use.
• Oversee and lead the accounting department and overall finance function.
• Coordinate annual audits and timely financial reporting to stakeholders.
• Develop and monitor master budgets and AOP for organizational planning.
