Job summary

ABB in the United States seeks a Category Manager to develop and implement procurement strategy, focusing on cost, quality, delivery, and supplier performance for assigned categories. The role requires leading negotiations, establishing frame agreements, and driving supplier collaboration onsite at Pinetops, NC.

Ideal candidate has 5+ years in category management within manufacturing, strong data analytics, and experience with ERP/SAP/Ariba.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master’s preferred.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in category management, strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain in a manufacturing environment.
Strong category strategy development, including spend analysis, market assessment, and supplier segmentation.
Proven supplier management and negotiation expertise with cost savings and risk mitigation.
Understanding of manufacturing processes and cost drivers (direct materials, MRO, CAPEX).
Experience with contract management, including drafting, reviewing, and enforcing terms and SLAs.
Data-driven with proficiency in spend analytics and procurement systems (ERP, SAP, Oracle, Coupa, Ariba).
Strong cross-functional collaboration with operations, engineering, quality, finance, and suppliers.
Knowledge of local/regional supplier markets, regulations, and compliance.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management; able to influence teams.
Candidates must have work authorization to work in the US.

Responsibilities

Ensures all relevant parties understand strategies and execute processes accordingly.
Manages planning and tracking of procurement activities, cost budgets, and savings forecasts.
Minimizes risk by purchasing in accordance with quality and commercial procedures and company guidelines.
Defines and establishes local standard agreements with major suppliers.
Designs and implements cost-out programs or processes to reach financial targets.
Accountable for health and safety of all employees and contractors; continuous improvement in HSE processes.
Promotes collaboration across divisions to maximize ABB results.
Provides and maintains standard terms in purchase contracts/terms and conditions.
