Job summary

Gerdau North America in Texas seeks a Category Management Specialist I to coordinate strategic procurement across assigned categories, guided by senior managers, and to execute cost-effective sourcing for production materials, services, and CAPEX.

You will lead supplier selection, negotiate with global suppliers, manage contracts in SAP, and monitor supplier performance while aligning with sustainability and ethics policies.

Qualifications

• Four year degree in Engineering or Business Administration combined with up to 3 years of procurement experience.
• Exposure in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of contemporary procurement process required.
• Professional certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate execution of procurement strategies for assigned categories with guidance from senior managers.
• Lead competitive bid processes and supplier selection.
• Negotiate with global suppliers and manage supplier relationships.
• Enter and maintain contracts in SAP with key information.
• Analyze category market attributes and engage internal customers to understand impact.
• Develop monthly commodity reports and presentations for Procurement Manager.
