Job summary

Truist is seeking a Category Manager to lead demand and supply management for multiple categories, optimizing total cost of ownership and reducing supplier risk. You will collaborate with executives and business partners to align contracts and sourcing plans with enterprise goals, while guiding project delivery and risk mitigation across SSM.

The role requires 6–8 years in sourcing within regulated environments, deep market knowledge, and strong negotiation and analytics.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree.
• 6 to 8 years of relevant sourcing experience in regulated organizations.
• Knowledge of the market, suppliers and cost drivers.
• Experience managing matrixed supplier relationships.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply a strategic lens to category spend.
• Ability to engage and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Track record of supplier consolidation and driving spend to preferred suppliers.
• Subject Matter Expertise in strategic sourcing methodology and techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to develop client relationships.
• Proficient analytical, written and verbal communication, project management, time management, and business acumen.
• Proficient negotiation and influencing skills.
• Proficient interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels, including executives.
• Self-motivated with executive presence and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Implements category strategies within portfolio to optimize value.
• Develops understanding of current category activity and opportunities.
• Specializes by developing deep expertise within the category.
• Maintains understanding of global supply markets and competitors.
• Builds relationships with internal customers and suppliers.
• Partners with leaders to align sourcing plans with goals.
• Leads cross-functional teams to develop specs, RFIs, RFQs, contracts, and plans.
• Performs market data analysis for negotiations and supplier selection.
• Compiles commodity profiles and performance metrics.
• Analyzes supply market trends and prepares metrics dashboards.
• Ensures best practices in sourcing processes.
• Executes full sourcing process: scope, supplier selection, negotiation, risk and contract.
• Engages risk stakeholders as needed.
• Drives remedy for vendor performance and spend allocation.
