Job summary

R+L Carriers in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Strategic Procurement Executive to lead sourcing and development of partner carrier relationships, ensuring on-time delivery and optimized margins for customer loads while delivering outstanding service.

You will recruit contract carriers, negotiate rates, and manage loads from pickup to destination using transportation management systems (McLeod preferred) and load boards.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or GED.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or similar field with emphasis in Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics, Sales, Marketing, or International Business preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience in a full truckload environment.
• Experience with transportation management systems and loads boards; McLeod preferred.
• Knowledge of FMCSR and transportation guidelines/regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and continually develop business relationships with customers and carriers.
• Ensure freight is covered from pickup through on-time delivery.
• Recruit and source contract carriers and validate contract eligibility.
• Present multiple modes of transportation options to customers.
• Negotiate rates with partner carriers to maintain competitive pricing.
• Dispatch carriers and update loads in the TMS.
• Maintain contact with carriers and internal partners about challenges.
• Track and trace freight movements from origination to destination.
• Develop carrier base by outbound calls to expand coverage.
• Communicate with partner carriers to understand equipment and haul needs.
• Utilize carrier lists and load boards to match needs with capacity.
• Input information into TMS to ensure system integrity.
• Provide unmatched customer service through daily conversations.
