Job summary

Berkeley County Government is seeking a Finance professional to oversee accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis for multi-year capital projects. You will liaise with the PMO and county departments to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with accounting standards.

The role includes budget development, audit support, and the maintenance of audit-ready project records while coordinating closeouts and funding reconciliations with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• Five years of related accounting, finance or budget experience; public-sector preferred.
• Equivalent education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Finance liaison for capital projects with PMO and county departments.
• Establish financial structure for multi-year capital projects.
• Monitor revenues, expenditures, encumbrances, and cash flow across years.
• Review invoices, POs, contracts for budgeting and funding eligibility.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconcilations per standards.
• Prepare recurring project reports and cash-flow forecasts.
• Assist with annual budget development January–June.
• Assist with annual audit June–December.
• Coordinate project closeout and disposition of funds.
• Maintain audit-ready records and reporting procedures.
• Present financial information to staff and stakeholders.
