Backburner Labs is an engineering consultancy and contract manufacturer in St. Paul, MN. We’re seeking a hands‑on Buyer to own purchasing, supplier relationships, and inventory management as we grow.

You’ll source from domestic and international suppliers, place and track POs, and work with engineering, manufacturing, and our CFO to keep projects supplied and costs visible. The role is in‑person in St. Paul with a move to Minneapolis.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands‑on purchasing supporting engineering, manufacturing, or hardware products
• Hands‑on inventory experience: receiving, cycle counts, and reconciling ERP records
• Clear communication and ability to keep many orders moving without losing details

Responsibilities

• Source electronic components and indirect materials from suppliers such as Mouser, DigiKey, McMaster-Carr, SendCutSend, CDW, and Uline.
• Create and manage purchase orders from request through delivery; confirm acknowledgements and expedite as needed.
• Maintain a clear view of open orders, costs, and project assignments; resolve delays and returns before disruption.
• Improve purchasing workflows and records in ERP/MRP systems; coordinate with CFO on terms and cost tracking.
