Job summary

Qualdoc seeks a Buyer Planner for its electromechanical manufacturing operation in Marietta, OH. The role ensures components are available to meet production schedules while balancing cost, quality, and delivery.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field.
3-5+ years combined purchasing and/or material-planning experience in manufacturing.
Experience purchasing electromechanical/electrical components (breakers, bus duct, switchgear parts, enclosures, wiring harnesses).
Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, or similar in a production environment.
Working knowledge of MRP logic, demand planning, and supply-chain fundamentals.
Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated cost and supply reliability improvements.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, supply/demand modeling).
Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills.
Experience in power distribution, electrical switchgear, UPS, or critical power industries.
Familiarity with PDCs, STS, RPPs, panelboards, MV/LV switchgear assemblies.
APICS CPIM, CSCP, or ISM C.P.M./CPSM certification.
Experience with Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement.
Knowledge of UL, ANSI, IEC, NEMA, NEC standards.
Experience with supplier development and international sourcing (Asia, Mexico, Europe).
Familiarity with customs and import compliance for electrical components.

Responsibilities

Purchasing & supplier management: create/manage POs for components like bus bars, breakers, contactors, transformers, enclosures, cable assemblies, and switchgear.
Identify, evaluate, qualify suppliers based on engineering requirements, lead times, quality, total cost.
Negotiate supplier pricing, payment terms, lead times, and contracts with domestic and international vendors.
Maintain supplier relationships and review performance (on-time delivery, quality PPM, lead-time).
Manage spot purchases and blanket POs for standard and custom materials.
Identify supply risks (single-source, sole-source, long-lead) and develop mitigations.
Material planning & inventory: use ERP/MRP to review demand and create planned orders.
Maintain item master data (lead times, safety stock, MOQs, reorder points).
Monitor stock to minimize shortages/excess and support production continuity.
Resolve shortages and expedite critical materials to protect schedules.
Coordinate with production schedulers for alignment with capacity and delivery dates.
Perform cycle counts and inventory reconciliations; investigate discrepancies.
Cross-functional support: work with Design/Engineering on NPIs, ECOs, BOMs.
Coordinate with Quality on SCARs, NCM disposition, FAIs.
Coordinate with Logistics/Receiving to monitor inbound shipments and dock-to-stock.
Provide Sales/PM with material availability updates and supply-risk assessments.
Participate in Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) and production-readiness reviews.
Reporting & Process Improvement: monitor PPV, SOTD, inventory turns, shortages.
Support cost-reduction initiatives (value engineering, supplier consolidation, TCO).
Improve purchasing/planning processes through ERP and data integrity.
Support Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen events on material flow and supply chain processes.
