Abbott, a global healthcare leader, is seeking a Buyer II for the Pleasanton, CA Heart Failure Division. You will purchase raw materials, sub-assemblies, and services, focusing on cost, quality, and reliable sources. You will negotiate with vendors and manage supplier relationships to ensure timely deliveries.

The role emphasizes data analysis, process improvements, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Travel up to 10% is expected; SAP ERP experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Business, Supply Chain or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years purchasing experience.
• 1+ years working with purchasing/commodity management software.
• Ability to travel ~10%, including internationally.
• Strong verbal and written communications.

Responsibilities

• Plans and schedules deliveries to optimize inventories in support of production schedules/business demands.
• Reviews purchase requisitions with vendors for price, availability and delivery schedule.
• Implements process and procedure best practices with related product lines.
• Facilitates vendor corrective action and works to improve quality.
• Participates in R&D projects to bring new products to market quickly.
• Recommends pricing strategies to meet operating goals.
• Creates and maintains long-term supplier partnerships.
• Monitors supplier performance and initiates corrective actions.
• Generates complex reports and analyzes data for planning.
• Coordinates with inventory/warehouse to resolve issues.
