Job summary

Eaton is seeking a Strategic Buyer for our Grand Rapids, MI facility to orchestrate supplier relations and procure complex, non-standard parts and services. The role emphasizes managing obsolescence, capacity commitments, ITAR-related procurement, and cross-functional collaboration to meet customer demands.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years in manufacturing or supply chain, with SAP experience and strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 2+ years in manufacturing, supply chain, engineering or related.
• U.S. export controls require U.S. person status; CPT/OPT/STEM OPT not supported.

Responsibilities

• Procure parts and services with complex or custom requirements, including non-standard buys.
• Drive part deactivation/reactivation and obsolescence as needed.
• Collaborate with commercial teams in aftermarket quoting.
• Manage producibility decisions for plant parts and supplier unknowns.
• Oversee on-site transitions and ramping based on risk.
• Handle ITAR and other undisclosed programs procurement activities.
• Receive and communicate Engineering specs with support from ITAR.
• Engage suppliers in tender preparation and define delivery responsibilities.
• Coordinate material forecast and capacity commitments from suppliers.
