Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Carson, California, is seeking a skilled Buyer to manage sourcing and purchasing across machined components, outside processes, forgings, castings, and other semi-finished products.

You will interpret engineering drawings to align sourcing with suppliers with optimal capabilities, ensuring manufacturability, quality, and cost efficiency, and reconcile invoices while driving root-cause solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• 5+ years of experience in a buying and/or purchasing function.
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Access to export-controlled items; employment offers conditioned upon ability to access such items.

Responsibilities

• Manage sourcing and buying activities across a range of commodities including machined components, outside processes, forgings, castings, and other semi-finished products.
• Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to align sourcing with suppliers having the optimal capabilities for manufacturability, quality, and cost efficiency.
• Reconcile invoice and payment problems and drive root cause solutions.
• Identify and implement cost reduction activities and streamline processes.
