Job summary

Western Industries Plastic Products, LLC in Winfield, KS is seeking a motivated Buyer to lead procurement efforts in a manufacturing environment. You will source, negotiate, and purchase materials, manage supplier relationships, and support cost reduction initiatives.

The ideal candidate has a BA/BS in Purchasing or related field, 3+ years of procurement experience, and strong knowledge of MRP systems; APICS or ISM certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on procurement experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• APICS or ISM certification a plus.
• Strong knowledge of MRP systems and MRO purchasing.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Source, negotiate, and purchase activities for assigned commodities.
• Make day-to-day purchasing decisions aligned with company strategy.
• Onboard new suppliers based on cost, quality, service, availability and other relevant factors.
• Analyze cost data and forecast industry changes.
• Support cost reduction initiatives.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships to improve price and delivery.
• Manage purchase orders and ensure timely material flow.
• Track procurement data, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
• Collaborate with Quality, Plant Management, and suppliers to resolve issues and manage credits.
