Job summary

Garmin International is seeking a full-time Buyer 2 at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

You will manage the semi-complex acquisition of assigned commodities, drive world-class QCDS performance, and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Marketing to develop new sources of supply. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, strong communication and negotiation abilities, and knowledge of MRPII/MPS processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong verbal, written, negotiating and analytical skills.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task.
• Motivated self-starter with uncompromising ethics.
• Knowledge of MRPII/MPS process and manufacturing requirements.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Understanding of supplier capability assessment.

Responsibilities

• Manage supplier development in partnering agreements and QCDS.
• Develop and negotiate RFP proposals.
• Plan, order and deliver components to ensure on-time delivery.
• Monitor inventory to maximize turns and minimize obsolescence.
• Contribute to process/product/new product introductions.
• Review and improve procurement contracts supporting MPS.
• Prepare cost price analyses for supplier agreements and projects.
• Drive and develop a supply chain strategy.
• Review inventory costing records incl. PPV, scrap and rework costs.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Marketing on new sources.
• Support ISO9000/QS9000 processes and training requirements.
• Improve departmental metrics and bottom-line performance.
