Job summary

Garmin Ltd. is looking for a full-time Global Strategic Sourcing Manager at its U.S. headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing strategic sourcing initiatives and negotiating contracts across multiple sites.

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in a related Operations field and at least 9 years of relevant experience. The position offers excellent benefits and opportunities for domestic and international travel.

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Global Strategic Sourcing Manager at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing strategic sourcing plans that create maximum benefits for the business and are responsible for commodity strategy related to electronic, electro‑mechanical, mechanical products and/or services including: sourcing strategy, spend segmentation, supply market analysis, supplier capability assessment, supplier recruitment and management, RFI/P/Q development, developing a business case for improved supply and/or service, while managing assigned commodities or services across multiple sites.

Essential Functions
  • Ability to lead and drive execution of supply chain strategies in a collaborative and multi‑site matrix environment to achieve both tactical and strategic goals
  • Applies knowledge of commodities and commodity market trends and serves as an expert in influencing, leading and driving project implementation of supply chain strategies and development of short and long term goals for management consideration
  • Ability to influence and project lead to successfully carry out complex strategies
  • Responsible for multi‑site negotiations and executions of sourcing agreements for assigned commodities and/or services
  • Negotiate strategic agreements and drive cost, quality, delivery and service (QCDS) improvements across multiple departments and sites
  • Use analytical and qualitative methods to analyze market commodities and product data
  • Demonstrate full knowledge and serve as a technical leader for assigned commodities and/or services
  • Organize, facilitate and manage cross‑functional teams to develop commodity and/or service strategies
  • Work with New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to ensure sourcing decisions achieve overall commodity objectives
  • Ability to identify and help drive technical root cause and corrective action for assigned product or service responsibilities
  • Assure execution of Supplier Guidelines with responsible suppliers in support of various sites
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related Operations field AND a minimum of 9 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Must demonstrate strong verbal, written, negotiating and analytical skills
  • Must demonstrate a proven track record of the ability to prioritize, organize and multi‑task in a flexible, fast‑paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
  • Must possess demonstrated knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII)/Master Production Schedule (MPS) process
  • Demonstrated significant technical knowledge with electronic and electro‑mechanical commodities
  • Demonstrated extensive experience assessing requirements, negotiating and executing supply contracts and/or service agreements
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional certification, such as Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM)
  • Certified in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)
  • Previous experience in electronics manufacturing or repair purchasing
